This Morocco Solar Eclipse Tour 2027 is designed around the August 2 total solar eclipse before continuing through Morocco’s most iconic cultural destinations. Beginning in Tangier, the journey combines the eclipse experience with the blue city of Chefchaouen, the Roman ruins of Volubilis, the imperial city of Fes, Morocco’s capital Rabat, Casablanca, and Marrakech.

The route has been carefully planned as a private one-way journey, allowing travelers to experience Morocco’s northern landscapes, historic cities, and cultural highlights without unnecessary backtracking. The official tour begins on August 2, 2027, and guests should arrive in Tangier on August 1 or earlier to ensure they are ready for the morning eclipse experience.

Day 1 — Aug 2 Total Solar Eclipse and Guided Tour of Tangier

Your eclipse experience begins early in the morning with collection from your accommodation in Tangier. We will travel to the selected observation location before the first partial phase begins, allowing enough time to settle in, receive the eclipse safety briefing, and prepare for this unique astronomical event.

Tangier is located within the path of totality, where the Moon will completely cover the Sun for approximately four minutes and 51 seconds. After witnessing the total solar eclipse, we return to Tangier before beginning a guided city tour with a local guide.

Explore the historic Grand Socco and Petit Socco, walk through the Medina, and discover the Kasbah overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar. Depending on timing and conditions, the visit may also include Cap Spartel, Atlantic coastal viewpoints, and panoramic locations where Europe and Africa meet.

Day 2 — Aug 3 Tangier to Chefchaouen

After breakfast at your hotel, we leave Tangier and travel southeast through the landscapes of northern Morocco. As the road enters the Rif Mountains, the scenery changes with green valleys, olive groves, farming communities, and traditional villages built along the hillsides.

We continue towards Chefchaouen, Morocco’s famous blue city. After arrival and check-in at your riad, you will have time to explore the charming old Medina independently.

Walk through the blue-painted streets, discover local weaving and leather shops, relax at Plaza Uta El Hammam, and explore the Kasbah area. Near sunset, you may walk to the Spanish Mosque viewpoint for panoramic views over Chefchaouen and the surrounding Rif Mountains.

Day 3 — Aug 4 Chefchaouen, Volubilis, and Fes

After breakfast, we leave Chefchaouen and continue south through the Rif countryside towards one of Morocco’s most important historical sites, Volubilis.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site contains some of Morocco’s best-preserved Roman ruins. You will have time to walk among ancient columns, public buildings, arches, and detailed floor mosaics that reveal the importance of this former Roman city.

After exploring Volubilis, we continue towards Fes. Depending on timing, a lunch stop can be arranged near Moulay Idriss or Meknes before arriving in the ancient imperial city of Fes.

Upon arrival, your driver will take you as close as possible to your accommodation, as many areas inside the old Medina are accessible only on foot. The evening is free to relax or enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner.

Day 4 — Aug 5 Full-Day Guided Tour of Fes

After breakfast, discover Fes with a licensed local guide and explore one of Morocco’s most historic imperial cities.

The day is dedicated to exploring the UNESCO-listed Fes Medina, a place known for its narrow streets, traditional markets, ancient architecture, and skilled artisans.

During your guided visit, discover the Royal Palace gates, Jewish Quarter, artisan districts, traditional tanneries, and historic areas that showcase the cultural importance of Fes.

You will have time to experience the atmosphere of the old city, visit local workshops, and discover centuries-old Moroccan traditions.

Day 5 — Aug 6 Fes to Rabat

After breakfast, we leave Fes and travel towards Rabat, Morocco’s capital city. The journey takes you through changing landscapes as you move from the historic interior of Morocco towards the Atlantic coast.

Upon arrival in Rabat, explore some of the city’s most important landmarks, including Hassan Tower, Mohammed V Mausoleum, and the Kasbah of the Udayas overlooking the Bouregreg River.

The evening is free to enjoy Rabat’s relaxed atmosphere and coastal surroundings.

Day 6 — Aug 7 Rabat, Casablanca and Marrakech

After breakfast, we continue south towards Marrakech with a stop in Casablanca, Morocco’s largest city and economic center.

Explore the Hassan II Mosque area, enjoy views of the Atlantic coastline, and experience the contrast between Casablanca’s modern atmosphere and Morocco’s traditional cities.

After the visit, continue towards Marrakech, known as the Red City. Upon arrival, transfer to your accommodation and enjoy the evening at leisure.

Day 7 — Aug 8 Full-Day Guided Tour of Marrakech

Day 8 — Aug 9 Marrakech or Casablanca Airport Transfer

After breakfast, your eight-day Morocco Solar Eclipse Tour 2027 comes to an end.

Your private driver will collect you from your accommodation and transfer you according to your departure schedule.

A transfer to Marrakech Menara Airport can be arranged for convenient departures. Guests flying from Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca can also request a private transfer. Since the journey from Marrakech to Casablanca Airport requires approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, an afternoon or evening flight is recommended.

An additional night in Casablanca can be arranged for early morning departures.
